Advice Required - Televisions
|
Had the kitchen ripped out, wall down, proper job Mojave Desert dust storms are clearing and as it approaches completion I want a television out there
Problem being, I don't have a Scoobie or inclination to read spec's which I won't understand - in my day things plugged in the wall were turned off, not 'powered down'
So I consult the wisdom of WHO - what do you blokes recommend?
So, what I need
1/Something that works off the wi fi to pick up BT Sport, to which we subscribe, and streams to which I don't 2/Reasonable picture quality 3/Ability to connect to X Box for when my lad comes over and wants to run his games through and his Sky 'access' 4/Ability to connect to a lap top 5/Sound system connectivity
And of sound systems, is Sonos the wireless way forward?
Apologies for being a Luddite, but in my childhood TV's had push buttons, three channels and the leap of technology was colour, Channel 4 and teletext

We have that facility upon others that the womenfolk selected, best avoided is my observation, every channel those devices select involve screaming menopausal bints or some scruffy yoot banging on about carbon neutrality, prior to jumping in mummy's SUV
Fo, I feel older by the bloody day - just want a box on the wall that does not involve wires that I can watch my shit on in reasonable quality and with a good noise

Pretty much any smart tv will do that and more.
You need to work out the size screen you need, you can find screen calculators online that you put the room dimensions into and it will tell you what range to go for. I've got a 48" Samsung in the snug and a near 70" Panasonic in the living room, both very good quality and easy to set up.
I'd recommend you look at the depth of the tv and the type of bracket you want (diy stores do good ranges of universal brackets).
Lastly get a firestick or equivalent, they plug into the hdmi port and need power but they are bloody good.
The samsung was the easiest to set up as I have a samsung phone so everything could be setup with my phone (a child could do it) and samsung plus tv is built in with hundreds of channels free

I followed that until the last couple of paras, not sure about the phone bit, I'm of an age, as you may be gathering, that uses them for calling real life people
Fortunately I have spawned two offspring that whilst no longer children, will grasp childs play
Nothing Odeonesque required, 3ft/4ft on the diagonal will suffice, cant have it impeding the lines of the new cooking emporium but would like to be able to have a sound system associated

Re: Advice Required - Televisions

Crass, from the detailed specs you listed, what you want is a telly*.
*Any model or make produced since 1066 should suffice!
There are other considerations, like if you have a Samsung phone for one example, you'll find getting a Samsung set with its seamless ease of use and connectivity and control between phone and TV a real bonus, etc.

Basically as they are all on wifi or bluetooth, the tv will see the phone and want to connect to it to go through the set up, its completely self-intuitive.
Get a 43-50" screen, don't worry about all the bollocks sales pitch, you can just go on amazon or AO and buy on for delivery next day - expect to pay between £250 -350 for a cheapie, 350-700 for a decent one and anything up to £5k for bells and whistles.

Cheers chaps, yes indeed, I do want a telly
I have had a work Voda Dog since they first became a thing, this version is an Apple derivative and considerably less socially acknowledged than my early incarnations but I seem to be in a minority for using the now intrusion, for primarily verbal communication
Budget is not an issue really, in fact I'd likely happily pay more if it provided what I want better and easier whilst ditching the bollox that I don't
Akin to why I bought a B and O music system and drove a BMW as a pup, no soppy lights and bollox, just did what I wanted well without guff to mask it's inherent flaws

I think the top end are the Sony Bravia, but the Phillips Ambi-lights are very nice too. Curry's were doing a sale on the smaller Ambilights, so you might get a decent deal. Both great tvs

405 lines, Black and White, BBC only, unless you’ve got a converter then you can get that tangled channel with adverts.
Comes complete with Sylvia Peters an Muffin the Mule.

You said that the wall was down - have you got another wall as this would be suitable to put on it:

You don't specify a size, but Hisense do differing sizes:
